Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join Greater Manchester's only local Building Society, as a Data Analyst at our Head Office in Stockport.

The role is to develop detailed reporting solutions and to maintain integrity of interpretation of data across the business to enable delivery of key management information consistent with the needs of the business and all legal and regulatory requirements.

Within the 26-week probationary period, the role is office based 5 days per week, following this, flexible home working (2 days per week) is available.


The Role

You will be responsible for:

  • Translating business and regulatory information requirements into SQL/DAX queries to derive commercially relevant insights.

  • Aiding with the design and maintenance of new and existing reports within established layouts and guidelines for key stakeholders across the society.

  • Creating data warehouse loading jobs following new system update releases.

  • Executing SQL queries to update or delete data in the test and live system environments.

  • Requirements gathering from the business through liaison with key stakeholders, to enable insightful data visualisations to be provided which have actionable insights to support key operational decision-making.

  • Assisting on data related projects working both alone and as part of a team.

  • Communicating with end users across the organisation to ensure reporting and MI is fit for purpose. 

  • Analysing databases/datasets to produce queries and dashboards to translate high level business requirements into functional specifications.

  • Summarising data trends in a commercially focused and actionable way for audiences across the Society, from ad hoc requests to MI for management and Board meetings.

  • Updating, implementation or development of data systems including production of properly authorised and specified ad hoc reports or management information.

  • Creating and improving a mix of regular monthly reporting and ad-hoc reporting requests from the business, including data integrity.


Desirable Skills:
  • Applicants should have at least 1-2 years of previous experience of working within a similar role with experience of data and problem solving within an operational environment.

  • Have skills in data visualisation and report development utilising tools such as Power BI, SQL Server, and Microsoft Excel.

  • Proficient in writing optimal T-SQL and/or PL/SQL DML queries.

  • Experienced in delivering and improving MI, in an easy to digest format, for internal and external use in a regulated environment, preferably in financial services.

  • Proactive with the confidence to challenge the status quo and identify business process improvements.

  • Have strong interpersonal and teamworking capabilities with excellent communication skills and a ‘can do’ attitude.

  • Able to work to deadlines, whilst being precise and detail orientated.


Package
  • £30,000 - £35,000 dependent upon skills and experience (band mid-market reference £30K).

  • Pension scheme with 7.5% employer contribution (after 13-week postponement period), rising to 10% after 2 years. Employee contribution 5%.
