Community Stars

Our plan to give back in 2022.

We #StandWithUkraine

In response to the humanitarian crisis, we are donating the first Community Stars fund to support the people of Ukraine.

We liaised with the Stockport Ukrainian Club, who suggested that we donate to the Disaster Emergency Committee's (DEC) Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. The £2,000 donation will help provide food, water, shelter and healthcare to refugees and displaced families.

We've been part of the community since 1924 and we're passionate about the Stockport Borough. We believe in giving back to the community that supports us. That's why, for the last ten years, we've run the Community Awards - a year end award ceremony, supporting local causes, groups and charities, which benefit our local community. Combined, the Society has donated over £100,000 to more than 100 incredible causes.

After 10 years of Community Awards, we wanted to change the way we give back to our community, and help more local causes than ever before.

Say hello to Community Stars.

Giving Back

We want to give back to the community all year round and want more causes to be involved than ever before. However, we can't do it without you! Share with us the causes close to your heart so that we can help not-for-profit groups in your communities.

Community Stars will run quarterly, celebrating worthy causes within our community. An organisation only needs to apply once to be considered for a share of our community fund.

How will it work?

Throughout the year, there will be opportunities to vote on where our community fund is donated. Our members and the local community can vote for who they believe should receive part of the fund.

Apply now

If you're a part of a not-for-profit organisation, group or charity within the Stockport area, that benefits the local community, please apply below.

If you know of a good cause that could benefit from the Community Stars fund, then you can apply on their behalf, at which point, we will get into contact with them.
