100 years of the Vernon

From supporting returning soldiers in buying their own home in 1945 to being a reassuring voice, easily contactable during economic downtimes in 2008, we’ve always been here for our Members, and still care about the things that really matter.

We'd love to learn about your memories of the Vernon. That's why we're offering you the chance to win. Simply share your memory of the Society with #Vernon100 on Social Media, and our three favourite posts will win a £100 John Lewis voucher.

How do I enter?

Simply share your memory and photo (if you have one) on social media.

On FACEBOOK: Simply post your memory mentioning @vernonbuildingsociety and #Vernon100.

On TWITTER/X: Tweet your memory using @vernonstockport and #Vernon100.

This could be anything from a time we've been there to support you or even your favourite moment with Vernon Bear.

We'll pick our favourite memories and the winning three will each receive a £100 John Lewis Voucher.

*Competition Terms & Conditions

  1. This competition is open to all UK residents.
  2. By entering this competition, it will be taken to mean acceptance of these terms and conditions.  
  3. All entries must be received by 4pm on 27th March 2024 through the relevant social media post.
  4. Three successful entrants will be chosen by Vernon Building Society.
  5. The three successful entrants will be contacted no later than 5pm on 29th March 2024. 
  6. Winning entrants may be contacted via social media for any necessary contact details and information. 
  7. All successful entries may be shared via the Vernon website, email and across Vernon social media. 
  8. Each winner will receive a £100 John Lewis Voucher. No cash alternative will be offered.
  9. Prizes are subject to availability. If a John Lewis voucher isn't available, an alternative prize of equal monetary value will be offered.
  10. Each winner may be requested to take part in publicity such as press photographs, news items, or photographs on the Society website. 
  11. Vernon may use the winner's name, hometown, photograph or opinions in future publicity or promotional material; however, we will ensure that you have agreed to such usage beforehand. 
  12. The decision of the Vernon Building Society is final.
